The URHB Medical Services Department has enjoyed a great deal of achievements and success stories. We serve an increasing number of clients each year to an average of total of 150,000 clients at the 3 centres (Bugiri, Kaliro and Kampala). URHB Hospital in Kitintale serves the biggest number of Clients followed by URHB Bugiri Medical Centre and URHB Kaliro Medical Centre. Post Exposure prophylaxis, Emergency contraceptives, Malaria and Tuberculosis treatment, Treatment for opportunistic infections among HIV positive clients and general medical care for abused children among others include the range of services provided at the 3 medical Facilities.

In 2010, URHB Medical Centre in Kampala was upgraded and given Hospital Status by the Ministry of Health after meeting all basic requirements for a Hospital. It has consequently been renamed “Kitintale Hospital”, “Kitintale” being a name derived from the area where the Hospital located. With support from our partners, we were able to expand our range of services including the installation of a fully functional Radiology department with Scan and X-ray services at Kitintale Hospital. Efforts are underway to upgrade URHB Medical Centres Bugiri and Kaliro to Hospital Level.

Through the ‘Integrated Community Case Management (ICCM) community partnership program, URHB together with PACE is promoting increased adherence of mothers and caregivers of children under five to treatment recommendations for malaria, pneumonia and diarrhea. The program is implemented in the four sub counties of Namwiwa, Gadumire, Kaliro Town Council and Namugongo. URHB is also the leading provider for of Long Acting and permanent Methods of Family Planning in a bid to increase the Family Planning choices of mothers and improve their health.
