URHB supports and promotes support groups for People Living with HIV and AIDS. These have been at the fore front of our Prevention with Positives Campaigns including counseling fellow PHAs, provide Home based care and referring them for services have been diagnosed with HIV but who are not receiving treatment and care.
Through psychosocial support, promotion of positive living and distribution of Cotrimoxazole prophylaxis support groups have helped to prolong and improve the quality of PHA lives. On average, 400 beneficiaries receive Cotrimoxazole per month; URHB conducts health promotion sessions and distributes condoms to the support group members and their beneficiaries.
Linking existing support groups to partner service providers has been our priority and over 500 members of our originally 30 support groups have been referred and are attached to services given by partner service providers like TASO, Mild May and the Government Hospitals.
